I’ve just adopted an animal and it is not well
If you have adopted an animal from us in the past 14 days and it has become sick, please call us on 09 256 7300 and we can advise you on what to do.
Every day we receive calls about stray cats. If you would like to remove the cat from your property you can bring it into the Village. Please ensure that the cat is in a cat trap or cage. Unfortunately, due to the extremely high number of calls we receive, we are not able to collect stray cats unless they are sick or injured. If the cat is sick or injured, please call us on 09 256 7300 and we can arrange to have it picked up. The cat still needs to be contained in some way (e.g. in a cage, room, or garage) To find out more about stray cats, please phone us on 256 7300.
Healthy stray dogs are the responsibility of the local council dog control. We are not able to intervene unless the dog is sick or injured. If you have a stray dog on or around your property, please contact your local dog control. Please note, we are also unable to assist if you have a barking dog.
